Why are your dog coat sizes 1/2" longer than the dog coat size I see on the neck tag of the other Foggy Mountain Dog Coats?

These dog coats are genuine Foggy Mountain Dog Coats, but our sizes indicate the back length of each coat's topline. When measuring the coats, they are about 1/2" longer than the original size indicates (i.e., size 12 actually measures 12.5" on the topline), so we included the actual back length of the coats as the size to make things easier for you.

How do I find my dog's correct size?

Measure your dog while he is standing straight/square from base of neck (where you feel the shoulder blades start) to the base of tail (where tail meets the body) without letting the dog's rear drop down while measuring. Easier said than done I know! Sometimes it's nice to have 3 hands to measure. Dog coats are sized by the length of the back/topline. Short/very thin dogs may need a dachshund cut coat-smaller necks and girths.

What if my dog is between sizes?

What about harness holes/D-rings?

Foggy Mountain Dog Coats does not put harness holes in the coats because we have found with all of the different harnesses, the leash clip D-ring on the harness falls in different parts along the back. Most people put a slit in the Snugglers where they need to pull the D-ring through. Turnout sizes 16" and smaller have leash clip D-rings on them, but sizes 18" and over do not.

Will the dog coats interfere with potty time?

Please always be sure to criss-cross the belly straps on the turnout dog coats. Most dogs won't have a problem with the location of the straps (turnouts) or belly flaps (snugglers) and potty freely. If the flap is too close to the plumbing, you might need a smaller size dog coat. The binding on the rear of the dog coats do not extend across the back end and only covers the contour darts in the rear.

I received my dog coat, but it's the wrong size. Can I exchange it for a different dog coat?

From time to time, we know that our customers may need to exchange one of our products. You may contact us to resolve any questions you have about an item. For sizing it's helpful to have the base of neck, back length, and "drop" measurement ready when you call (take your dog's drop measurement while your dog is standing straight by measuring from the spine, or topline, and continuing down toward the floor to point on the back of the front elbow).

If you do need to make an exchange, please mail the hair free (thanks!) dog coat back and include a note inside the package with your name and which size/color you would prefer. If you request a larger size and the price is more, your card will be changed for the adjustment up in size or refunded for downsizing.

Note: If the dog coat has an adjustable neck, you can adjust the back length slightly by making the neck opening larger or smaller.

Returns

Your complete satisfaction is our goal. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, we do our best to help you through the return process. To ensure that your package arrives to us safely, please check the coat for hair (Thanks!) before shipping and include your invoice inside the box/bag. Credit will be issued within 48 hours. Some banks put a hold on your refund, so you may not see it post to your account for several days or even a week. Unfortunately, we can't control banks policies (although we wish we could).

How does shipping work for Truefit Dog Coats?

Shipping is free on all orders.

We try to have every coat/size/color in stock and ready to ship. Now and then, we run short on a size/color combo and will let you know. We ship every day UPS from Keedysville, Maryland. Please be sure to use a good home delivery address for your order. If we have a question about your order, we will contact you via e-mail and/or phone message. Please check your spam folder for an email from us if you don't receive your coat within 5 business days.

Do we ship internationally?

We are trying a new work around using ebay which has international shipping down to a science! My son has an ebay store listing coats for me but has run out of space for all the colors/sizes etc. Let me know size/style/color coat you would like (truefitdogcoats@gmail.com) and I can have him add your request (coat) to his store and he/or I will send your a direct link for purchase. I will ship your order straight from Truefit Dog Coats.

How is sales tax calculated on orders?

Sales tax will not be charged on orders shipped outside of Maryland.

Can I get a custom coat for my dog?

What if my dog damages an item?

We cannot be responsible for damage resulting from chewing. Our dog coats are among the highest quality available for pets. Even so, sharp teeth and lots of energy can put even the toughest pet products to the test. While shopping with us, please take into consideration whether your dog or puppy is an aggressive chewer. Even little dogs have surprisingly powerful jaws. Please don't leave your dog unattended in their dog coat as buckles may get caught in a crate or fence.

How will Truefit Dog Coats use my personal information?

We won't! We value your privacy and are committed to protecting it. We absolutely will not sell your name, e-mail address, or mailing addresses to any third party. Your credit card information is always kept strictly confidential.
